Tottenham Hotspur secured a 1-0 win against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup Semi-final first leg on Wednesday night.
Lucas Bergvall was the hero as his late goal earned Spurs the hard-fought win against Arne Slot men.
The game was overshadowed by the injury to Rodrigo Bentancur who collapsed in the early parts of the first half and needed to be replaced and taken to hospital.
The game was paused for eight minutes while the midfielder was treated.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, making, who came off the bench had a shot cleared off the line and Dominic Solanke saw a goal ruled out by VAR for offside.
The match looked to be heading for a draw before Solanke picked out Bergvall in the box and set up the youngster’s first goal for Spurs as the hosts secured the slim first leg win.
The second leg will take place on 6th February at Anfield.
The other semi-final on Tuesday saw Newcastle United defeat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates stadium.
Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon scored in either half to seal the win for the visitors.
