Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi scored and also provided an assist in Leicester City’s 2-0 win at League Two (4th division) side Tranmere Rovers in round two of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Kelechi Iheanacho did not feature for Leicester as he was an unused substitute.
Ndidi, who came on in the 46th minute, opened scoring for Leicester in the 55th minute.
He then turned provider as his pass picked out Jamie Vardy who finished off from close range.
Frank Onyeka was in action for Brentford who overcame another 4th-tier club Newport County on penalty shootout after 90 minutes ended 1-1.
Onyeka was replaced in the 62nd minute as Brentford cruised into the next round after emerging 3-0 winners in the shootout.
In some other results Fulham, without Calvin Bassey, beat Tottenham Hotspur 5-3 on penalties after playing 1-1, Cardiff beat Birmingham 3-1, Bolton Wanderers lost 3-1 to Middlesbrough, Wolves hammered Blackpool 5-0.
