Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu featured as Southampton lost 2-1 to Liverpool at St. Mary’s in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Onuachu was introduced into the game on 73 minutes while Aribo was taken off with six minutes left.
Liverpool raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliot while Cameron Archer pulled a goal back for the Saints.
Nunez opened the scoring on 24 minutes before Elliot doubled the lead on 32 minutes.
In the 59th minute Archer reduced the deficit but the Reds held on to progress into the semi-finals.
