Meyiwa Oritseweyinmi, Bendel Insurance captain, has exclusively told Completesports.com that the setback the club suffered last weekend following a 1-0 defeat by Abia Warriors will inspire them to go “all out” against Sunshine Stars in this Sunday’s NPFL matchday 10 fixture at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.
The midfielder, who is thrilled by his recent invitation to the Super Eagles Team B camp in preparation for the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) qualifier against Ghana next month, believes it will also be a career boost.
“We’ve gone through some rough patches this season, and just last Sunday, we suffered a setback due to the loss to Abia Warriors on our home ground,” Oritseweyinmi told Completesports.com during a phone call on Thursday morning.

“Our resolve is to make up for that setback when we play Sunshine Stars in Ijebu-Ode on Sunday. In fact, we’ll go all out. It’s going to be a game of ‘no retreat, no surrender’ for us because we’re determined to make up for the setback and get our season back on track.”
Bendel Insurance currently sit 15th on the NPFL table with nine points from nine games, while their opponents, seventh-placed Sunshine Stars, have accumulated 13 points from the same number of matches.
Oritseweyinmi also described his invitation to the CHAN Eagles camp ahead of the December 20-22 CHAN qualifier against arch-rivals Ghana as a significant step in his career.

He was one of 35 NPFL players listed by Coach Augustine Eguavoen for the training camp in preparation for the 2025 CHAN, set to be hosted in Kenya.
“I’m happy. It’s a boost to my career, and I’m going to work hard to be a good ambassador of Bendel Insurance in the national team,” Oritseweyinmi said.
