Cape Verde coach, Pedro Leitao Brito – Bubista, has been talking up the Blue Sharks’ chances of overtaking the Super Eagles and winning the Group C of the 2022 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers. And he hints that his player will be playing out of their skin in the remaining fixtures, Completesports.com reports.
Bubista whose team lost 2-1 at home to the Super Eagles on matchday-2, regained his confidence in the race for a berth in the final round ostensibly after Central African Republic (CAR) bagged a shock 1-0 win against Nigeria in Lagos on matchday-3. Cape Verde also bagged 2-1 away win against Liberia at the Accra Sports Stadium same day.
Cape Verde will face the Lone Star in a reverse fixture at the Estadio Aderito Sena in Mindelo today [Sunday], while Nigeria and the Wild Beasts of Central African Republic will clash at the Stade Omnisport in Douala.
Nigeria lead the Group C on six points after three rounds of matches, while Cape Verde and CAR follow in the second and third positions respectively with four points apiece. Liberia, on three points, are at the bottom of the group.
Bubista while speaking in an interview with the Cape Verdean Football Federation YouTube channel, described the Blue Sharks” home game against the Lone Star as a ‘must win’ in order to keep their chances of topping the group intact.

He said that the Blue Sharks’ target was the Group C top spot and reiterated the need for his players to fight harder for the points in each game, starting from their reverse fixture against Liberia.
“If we want to get to the final qualifying round [for 2022 FIFA World Cup] with possibilities, we have to do everything to win the three points in the next home game”, Bubista said.
“The game this Sunday is the most important qualifying match, as it is a great opportunity to reach the group’s top position.
“Our group shows that any team can
beat the other at anywhere, so we have to be focused and approach the task with confidence in order to achieve our goal”, Bubista reiterated.

CAR have given fellow minnows the belief they can conquer the super eagles, how the cookie crumbles!
Even Cape Cade are optimistic of beating Nigeria away now. Very very pathetic. We’ve got to do something now.I don’t know why NFF is so afraid of taking decision having been beaten at home by CAR. What else do we need? No pride again? I am really pained.
Ejo gbogbo yin ko.
It’s not your fault.
It’s our players that disappointed us.
Exactly @Toluwase they thought cutting the head is the solution. They lost they started asking for the coach head.
@JAMES OCHOECHI ECHE i will tell you the reason why nff is afraid cuz they don’t have plans for nigeria football but for their personal gain.
Any link to see the match yet?

You people should go and rest, until Rohr fails in the target set for him by NFF he’s still super eagles coach period. And enough of selecting his players for him, he’s in charge, so far it is clear that he’s inviting players on merit. I know you will mention Musa, considering some factor coach can decide to retain him in the team. Talent can be clueless in some matches when it comes to real competition where experience will carry the day, just because of that confidence that I have done it before, I can still do it again. Even if the coach want to drop him, it can’t be easy decision take it or leave it.
Another portal just released our starting 11 and Rohr is opting for a 3-5-2 formation. Jamie, Balogun , and Ekong retain their spots….. Awaziem is in.
The line up
I am surprised frank, Aribo retaining btheir spots in the middle. Musa in while smauel kalu is on the bench. This coach no go hear word.
With the rubbish Simon played in the last match, I expect him to sit on the bench.
Well I hope Aribo will show something today and onyeka. We keep our fingers crossed..
Same starting lineup, just a change of formation. Na wa o.
Well sha, I’ve become immune to SE-induced heart attacks since the days the Didier-Drogba-led CIV eliminated the SE from Afcon… can’t really remember the year now.
Since then I learned to expect anything from them, but my passion for them is still the same.
I wish them all best.
When did the Didier Drogba led CIV eliminate Nigeria from AFCON? Pls kindly remind us
2006 AFCON in EGYPT.
Please am not sure hesgoal.is showing the match… please confirm ooo
Let them win their return leg against Liberia first before thinking of toppling Nigeria.
Beating of Super Eagles by Central Africa in home has given Cape Veridan coach a confidence to topple SU from the group and he can beat SE in home as he pretends ;so I think Rhor must keep his eyes and mine for his pattern of play and keep track of new players who can do the job well;I think Rhor must follow SE defensive midfielders players in Europe at thier clubs and thier fitness and participations in the matches on thier leauges just like Nwankwo Obiora,Kingsley Michael,Nwabodo,Joel Obi, or to keep track on strong one in NPL to recall him in order to enforce this weak function. Also he(Rhor)must keep up and follow attackting midfield in all Europe in order to select the better to make a creativity in SE just like Ejaria,Michael Oliseh,or a clever one from NPL; also he must enforce center back with tow couple (Awziem,Omuero) instead of (Balogun,William troost) to avert lapses and set-peciese whitch can bang and batch the team , I recommend Rhor to put this matters on the consideration eye, because the home match versus Cape Verde at the of the qualifing round in the next november…
