Norwich are considering making a move for Sevilla defensive duo Joris Gnagnon and Ibrahim Amadou. The Canaries are keen to bolster their defensive ranks due to Christoph Zimmermann being absent for the opening weeks of the new season, while fellow centre backs Ben Godfrey, Grant Hanley and Timm Klose have all had their own fitness concerns during the summer.
Boss Daniel Farke appears to have identified Sevilla duo Gnagnon and Amadou as two players that could improve Norwich’s options at the back, with the suggestion being the Canaries want to sign the pair on loan with a view to making the deals permanent next summer.
Gnagnon hit the headlines during pre-season following a nasty tackle on Liverpool’s Yasser Larouci that led to him being sent-off. The 22-year-old only arrived at Sevilla last summer for a reported £12million from Rennes, but he has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular during his time at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Fellow Frenchman Amadou also arrived at Sevilla 12 months ago from Lille, but unlike Gnagnon, he has been able to establish himself as a La Liga regular. However, new Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegu does not appear to see either player as being part of his first-team plans going forward and that could allow Norwich to make their move.
The Canaries will have to move quickly, however, as Gnagnon has been linked with their Premier League rivals Burnley, while Amadou is attracting interest from La Liga outfit Getafe.
