Norwich defender Timm Klose has confirmed he is set for months on the sidelines with a knee injury but has vowed to come back stronger. The defender suffered the injury during last week’s League Cup defeat at Crawley and there were immediate fears that he was looking at a lengthy spell on the treatment table.
Everyone has been keeping their fingers crossed for good news, but unfortunately Klose’s worst fears have now been confirmed.
Klose visited a specialist in London yesterday and then gave an update to the club’s supporters via his Instagram account later in the day. “Unfortunately I have to take a break for a few months from doing the thing I love the most,” said Klose.
“During this time my team mates and the club have my total support. “Time for me to fix the problem, recover and come back stronger than ever. Thank you for all your messages over the last couple of days. It means a lot.”
Klose has not specified exactly how long he will be out for, but the club will no doubt issue an official statement at some point today to clarify the injury, thought to be ruptured ligaments, and rehabilitation period.
Head coach Daniel Farke was expecting the worst when he recently admitted that he expects the Swiss international to miss most of the season with the problem.
Klose has had terrible luck on the injury front, but was hoping to play a key role in Norwich’s bid to stay in the Premier League after winning promotion last season.
He missed much of the second half of last season with a knee problem, and then the start of this campaign with a hip injury. Klose was looking to get valuable minutes under his belt against Crawley, when cruel bad luck struck again.
Farke has said the club will support Klose in every way they can to ensure he makes a full recovery. “This happens in football and you have to handle it,” Farke said.
“You can be disappointed for a few days and then you must come back stronger than before. He will get all the support and time he needs. Not only he is a brilliant footballer but a brilliant lad and so important to us as a club.
“We won’t force anything and he will get the best medical support he can have.”
It is a big setback for the Canaries and will be hoping for much better news as they wait for injury updaye on Christoph Zimmermann and Tom Trybull.
