Well done…and they’ve played BEAUTIFUL football in this tournament.
Dear 9JaRealist,
I don’t mean to put spanner in the works but the overall quality of the football in the series leaves a lot to be desired. Comical shots, wildly misplaced passes, disjointed play, low energy and inadequate tactical injection and output.
That said, I join you in congratulating Edo Queens in their attempts to produce beautiful football. The balaclava of outwards beauty suggested in their game hides the average quality of oppositions before them. This in and of itself should not tarnish the accomplishments of Edo Queens. Rather it should help manage expectations that their game may not come across as that beautiful against higher caliber oppositions with highly refined tactical axes to wield.
Again, as is always the case on this platform, I don’t want my comments to be taken out of context. Congratulations to Edo Queens – they have done themselves, Edo state and Nigerians proud with focus, dedication and application to power their way to this Wafu B final.
They have done well.
However, based on what I saw, I think they really have to up their game and sharpen several rough tactical edges so as not to merely make up the numbers in the CAF Women’s Champions League proper. There is no point being top dogs in West Africa only to unravel against wider African opponents. With the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns, AS FAR, SC Casablanca, JKT Queens and Simba Queens in the Champions League horizon, I will advocate greater emphasis on grit, co-ordination, vision, killer instinct and precision across the park from Edo Queens.
Good luck to them!
@deo, point taken but you can only play the team in FRONT of you…
When we get to the next bridge we worry about crossing it, but one seminal lesson in this life is that if you want to do big things well you should start with doing the little things well!
Good point though. Thanks 9jaRealist.
