Rivers United head coach, Stanley Eguma cut a disappointed figure following his side’s 2-0 home loss to Young Africans on Sunday.
The Nigeria Premier Football League champions conceded twice in the second half.
Eguma’s side will now need to score three goals without conceding in the second leg to scale through to the semi-finals.

“I will say it was a bad day for us. We didn’t get our acts right. We had some scoring chances in the first half but we couldn’t convert until the opponents scored in the second half and they came out to play. They equally got the second from a counter,” Eguma told reporters after the game.
“I believe we have learnt our lessons and some of our key players that were missing would have made some difference for us.”
The reverse fixture will take place at the Benjamin Nkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

if it is the match i watched on DSTV, it is a vindication that our local coaches do not have tactical capabilities and we should be honest with ourselves that we need to inject foreign coaches even from Benin, Cameroon or Ghana to move the NPFL forward. our local coaches concept of football is run and make hopeful crosses in and see if we can score
But u ppl kept pummelling Róhr for not inviting home based players to the SE. They forced Iwuala on him, the same guy has gone into oblivion since leaving Enyimba for Esperance.
And the foreign based he had at his disposal, did they bring any trophy home. Let him go and perform his wonders in Benin republic, and you can also start supporting them too
Bring Trophy home from how many tournament? A World Cup and a Nation’s cup after many years of absence?
Fear God o!
The departure of Fatai Osho plus the lack of basic tactical compression was Rivers United undoing, would have been better if they ceeded territory, park the bus and play on the counter it’s a more simpler way to play with what you have quality wise.
