Confederation of African Football (CAF) has paid each of the countries participating in 2019 AFCON $260,000 (N94m naira) to finance their preparations for the tournament in Egypt reports Completesports.com.
This year’s Total CAF Africa Cup of Nations will have 24 countries battling it all out for glory.
The aim of the advance payments from CAF is to help federations or associations with smaller budgets to meet the expenses of their preliminary preparations.
The premiums ranges between US$ 4.5 million for the eventual champions and US$475,000 for the teams that will be eliminated at the group stage.
The Super Eagles, considered favourites for the AFCON title are drawn in Group B alongside Guinea, Madagascar and Burundi.
