Olanrewaju Yemi confessed Enyimba were lucky to seal a place in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The People’s Elephant confirmed their place after a 3-2 penalty shootout victory over Burkina Faso’s Etoile Filante at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Sunday.
The two teams could not be separated over two legs with penalty needed to determine the winner.
Enyimba were lucky to score three of their spot kicks, while Etoile Filante converted only two.

“I wish we could have ended the game before the penalities considering the chances we missed. We are lucky to escape and we can’t go the next stage like this,” Olanrewaju told the club’s media.
” If we are to progress to the quarter-finals, we must take our chances. “There was a bit of anxiety from the lads and they were in a hurry for everything.
“We were not calm in the final third. We are lucky to have scale through and get to the group stage.”
The group stage draw of the competition will hold next month.

After watching Enyimba play yesterday I must confess that I’m no more affiliated to coach Olarewaju because he’s not only clueless but deficient in tactics.
