A former Nigerian international, Peterside Idah, has insisted that the feats of Victor Osimhen, Asisat Oshoala and Chiamaka Nnadozie in Monday’s CAF awards, is an indication that Nigeria still possesses exceptional talents.
Idal made this known on Tuesday in an interview with Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, where he called for the need to discover and develop more talents at the grassroots level.
Recall that during the event held in Morocco on Monday evening, the duo of Osimhen of the Super Eagles and Oshoala of the Super Falcons were announced as African players of the year (male and female categories). Also, Super Falcons goal-stopper, Chiamaka Nnadozie was crowned the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year for 2023.

However, Idah stated that the trajectory of every one of those players, the structures down came from Nigeria.
“The recognition of Asisat in the female category, Osimhen in the male category, and Chiamaka as Goalkeeper of the Year is an encouraging and positive sign that Nigeria still possesses exceptional talents,” Peterside said in a live interview on on Tuesday.
“The trio’s victory “is like a beacon of light in a previously dark tunnel,” noting that the “national teams have faced challenges in recent months and years.”
“When you look at the trajectory of every one of those players, the structures down came from Nigeria. Asisat played for the local teams, Chiamaka played for the local teams, and now they’re playing in Europe,” Peterside said.
“That’s why it is so important—very vital that the structures must be right.”
“We’ve been hearing structures, but the structure here has to be right at that national level to be able to produce great players,” the former goalie said.
“Look at how they’re doing very well internationally; if we invest more in our grassroots football if we invest more in our FAs, they will begin to chunk these kinds of players, you see.”
“Imagine how many talents we can have; we have great potential in Nigeria. Their success in wearing the green colour symbolises the rich source from which they emanate.”

Idah Peterside always anxious to promote his ego, talks a lot of rubbish like most old Nigerian players
On SuperSport Peterside boasted he would sack foreign-born and foreign-based players He then ran for the NFF Presidency and got only one vote!!! Now he’s there opportunistically, like most Nigerian pastors sharing the limelight with people he once condemned
OGA Peterside, Why did your Home Based not Make the CAF Best Players Shebi you people said NPFL this NPFL that. Like I alwasy said the Best Nigerian Exports come from our Academies not NPFL. Nigeria has alwasy produced players that can hold thier own against European players from our Nigerian Academies not clubs that are full of age cheats and Bribers.
You see there is nothing Wrong with our Grass roots evident in the likes of Osimhen, Boniface, Orban Iheanacho Ndidi and Chukwueze should i go on. Non of these players have kicked a ball in NPFL.
The problem with these ex Internationals is that they have no say in the Academies they want to make money from their Corrupt NPFL associates trying to push their mediocre players into SE for Agent and sign on bonus if they luckily make it into an obscure league in Europe once they have that sign on bonus player is then forgotten and they move to the next set the following season. Corrupt bunch of ingrates.
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH SE. Jose Piseiro was only given leg to select the countries best Legs mid way this year and these players need to build Confidence as they were not allowed the grace to play together with all the tampering of the list and so forth.
