Cote d’Ivoire head coach Emerse Fae is rooting for Ademola Lookman to be crowned 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year.
The award ceremony will hold in Marrakech, Morocco tonight.
Simon Adingra, Achraf Hakimi, Rowen Williams and Serhou Guirassy are the other players nominated for the prestigious award.
Fae believed Lookman’s impressive performance for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and his UEFA Europa League final heroics for Atalanta give him edge over his rivals.
“I wish it’s Adingra because he’s my player but Ademola Lookman deserves it, he played very well and scored goals at the AFCON and also did well for his club Atalanta, scoring three goals in the Europa League finals,”he told Ojb Sports.
The Nigeria international was the only African nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
The 27-year-old eventually ranked 14th on a final 30-man short list.
His compatriot Victor Osimhen won the African Best Player award last year.
