Burnley want to sign out-of-contract Bolton defender Harry Brockbank at the end of the month, according to reports. The 20-year-old made the first-team breakthrough with the crisis-stricken club towards the end of last season, playing three times.
However, he is out of contract this summer and the club are set to allow him to leave for pastures new, with much uncertainty over the financial situation as they prepare to start life in League One with a 12-point deficit. Sean Dyche has identified the defender, who is a natural centre-back but can also play at right-back or in holding midfield, as a potential transfer target.
Despite reports of a takeover nearing completion at Bolton, they may have to allow several players to depart in order to rebuild. The Clarets are being linked with the defender as they aim to have younger options as back-up to James Tarkowski and Ben Mee. They are also thought to be keen on another Bolton youngster in Luca Connell although Celtic are leading the chase for the Republic of Ireland international.
