Also, the victory against Leipzig saw Awoniyi’s Union Berlin move up to fourth place in the league standing.
Commenting on his latest goal feat, Bundesliga wrote on their Twitter handle:”Good at football. Greater thighs.
“@taiwoawoniyi18 👏👏👏”
Awoniyi is now third in the Bundesliga top scorers chart behind Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski (14 goals) and Erling Haaland (10 goals).

He has got the hunger to do greater things, I hope the SE coaching teams are aware there is no better time to use Awo as top9 than now. Good luck Awoniyi.
The hunger you mentioned is correct. Taiwo Awoniyi is a complete striker flying very high as one the owners of the flag.

Third leading scorer in German bundesliga but not rated in super eagles team hmmm. Im glad he is proving his worth in Germany.
Also glad that zaidu sanusi seems to have fought his way back into reckoning in Porto’s first team.
Nwakali was also in his teams starting eleven last time out.
Good times for these players.
I rate zaidu and bassey higher than collins.
The coach can use the term “experience” as an excuse for starting some players ahead of others but what good is this experience when the players bringing it are ineffective and obviously not good enough.
Play younger “inexperienced” players that have the hunger, strength, energy and passion and let them get the necessary experience.
…@Sportsfan… Jamilu Collins is signed to DW Sports Management Agency, the same agency managing players that Rohr has been fingered to be affiliated to,
Collins plays in Bundesliga 2, and all concerted efforts are being made to polish him into attracting perennial Bundeliga clubs to take him, and how else to do that than giving him enough game time with his national team… he is not a bad player but like most who are Rohr’s disciples… he is bigly average and is dwarfed in reality and football terms by Zaidu and Bassey!
Thank you@Jimmyball. Rohr has become partial and selfish. Nothing good can come from him again. This is what those who support him are not ready to discuss. How can you continue to bench zaidu for collins. Even aina. Collins though not bad but there are better players ahead of him in terms of quality..
I have said it we have not heard the last word on the foolish and wicked invitation of ighalo. Ighalo has been talking to the press so that he would be exonerated when the bubble burst. We keep our fingers crossed.
Have you forgotten thay an inexperienced and rookie team won us 2013 Afcon?
If anyone is inviting players based on experience and desist from form, that person is a maladroit.
Football is a form sports, if you aren’t in form, just forget about it.
I have seen guys here talked about Musa and what he done in the past, football isn’t what you have done in the past, it’s a game of what you can do in present. I like Gernot rohr but he is vehemently carried away by what he has achieved before, his recent result really called for sack, players like Kalu, Collins, Onuachu and Musa have got nothing to offer the team now.
Remember, players like Onazi, Omeruo, Mba, Igiebor(only played twice) Oboabona won us Afcon in their first attempt.
Everyone loves Nigeria, we all love super eagle and therefore we have got to only call a spade a spade, let our darling coach starts inviting the right players and I can assure you that, with luck we will play in semi finals of next Afcon in Cameroon.
God bless us all
Awoniyi, great player, saw the match with RB.However, Awoniyi needs to do more in front of goal.He could easily have scored 3 Clear goals yestday but some how failed to do so.
Jimmyball,as usual always peddling conspiracy theory.Rest, after all your nightmare is almost gone.
The senior players in Eagles have petitioned NFF for wanting to fire ROHR. It’s obvious those big for nothing senior players are very much happy with the way things are as long as they are guaranteed playing time. They have turned eagles to their properties they know the coming of new coach will spell doom for them as they will not make it to the nations cup. ROHR shut himself when he started to manage some players secretly thereby giving them privileges over some better and organized players. ROHR ineptitude will not have been too obvious if quality players are invited and played , I tell you eagles will still beat any opposition in Africa if players are invited based on performance and not conformity. Picknic has succeeded in turning Eagles into a team with no hunger to play on the field but hunger to settle top officials and be called to national duty. Nobody should ever Say the time to sack ROHR is wrong , the big head that looks like a witch doctor must be fired as soon as possible
@Respect is Reciprocal…. Gbamosutely!!! On point…
With the present form of super eagles players, this is my first11:
……………Okoye……………..
Aina …..Awaziem….Akguma …. Zaidu
… Onyeka….. Ndidi………Aribo
.V.Moses….. Awoniyi…….. Dennis
Sub:
Bassey
Jittery Ekong
Chukwueze
Ejuke
Iwobi
Amoo
Adebayo
Dessers
Yusuf
Dele-Bashiru
With this formation even a dullard coach will perform above Average in Africa.
I prefer a fit leon balogun to a combination of omerua and ekong. The Bench is full of players who haven’t played for super eagles before, so taking them to a major competition will be a mistake. I like Aina on the left of the defence and awaziem on the right (he is hard to beat). Then leon and akpoguma in central defence.
Ndidi, frank and aribo in midfield is good but I would search for a more enterprising player in franks place, someone like an onazi in his earlier days. Then if Victor moses decides to come back, he starts from the left where he is more effective and dennis or ejuke or chukwueze starts on the right. Awoniyi leads the attack followed by either sadiq or dessers. I still prefer uzoho in goal, only problem being he hasn’t been too active, so its okoye (I hope he is up to the task). Case closed.
abeg manage this chill guilder with this formation
Perfect formation!
Awoniyi is already in and had shown the stuff he’s made of overtime. For Rohr, he is going no where as what the squad needs is realignment to make provision for Desser, Tyrone and few others. As fans, ours is to continue encouraging them and hoping that the good choices are selected, it doesn’t matter if they are our choices or not. God bless Nigeria
Coach Rohr knows what he is up to, knowing well when the stakes are at the highest. See video

Sometimes your formation or those to be in your starting 11 depends on the team or game you are playing
I just looked it up. It means at the end of the day, the Cameroon bow to Super Eagles just the like Africa bowing to the SE in Cameroon next year. That’s Rohr
CAF Bans SE From Playing WCQ Playoffs in Lagos
Or is this not the same Teslim Balogun Stadium the coach and players of the SE have been complaining about….??? LMAOOoooo.
According to CAF “the feild of play is made up of grasses of many species (Jollof Grass…..LMAOOOoo) and others are just weed……LMAOoooo
See the way CAF is exposing NFFs deliberate intent to sabotage our footballing ambitions….LMAOOo
No wonder we won all our matches away from home……LMAOOooo
The chickens are coming home to roost……LMAOOOooo
@Drey,nha sit down look I dey ooo.One can only wonder how we sweep the truth underground and spil falsehood.Rohr kept begging and pleading about the state of our pitches, while the NFF as though preparing the team for failure kept taking the team from one failed pitch to another, ranging from Benin city, Delta and useless Teslim Balogun stadium.
It’s not fare how we keep playing to fail or shooting ourselves in the foot. This team has shown several times that when the conditions are right they can play good football. All through the qualifiers for the 2018 and 2019 world cup and nation cups qualifiers they played in Uyo and took every one to the cleaners. All of a sudden the NFF decided to politicise the national team by taking them to nook and crannies of the nation.
It’s a big shame that we can be talking of removing Rohr at a time like this when we all know that 90% of the situation that has dragged our team down is from the FA.This team played the Ukran national team in their home and the entire world mistook them for the Barcelona team. They also played the Brazilian team and took them to a stand still.
The truth will only set us free if we only and only if we know it.Whatever happens to Rohr,I wish him well and only time will justify what he has done for Nigeria.May God bless him.As for Nigeria those of you that want Rohr out may and will very likely endure more heart aches as your wish may never come to pass. The reason? You will know in the next edition.
HAhahahaha……leave liars let them continue to Cook up all sorts of jollof lies, looking for every means outside what is written in Rohr’s contract to shove him aside…..LMAOooo. The man has though proven to them that no matter what antics they pull, he will still manage to produce effective and efficient performances even when we do not deserve any.
Of course we have always know that antics such as owing 8 months salaries, 2 years bonuses, hiring of a man even the NFF cannot ask to lead the CHAN team in ordinary friendlies as Asst coach, moving the team from a FIFA approved stadium to one filled with weeds, supporting and encouraging sex-parties in camp are all attempts to sabotage the team and ensure that the team falters so they can have a rope within the confines of the signed contract to hang Rohr.
So far they are yet to find any…..LMAOOoo and the are scared that they still wont find any after AFCON….LMAOOooo. Already, One of the very astute liars on their L:iars Utd group has already disclosed how the NFF should frustrate the team with late camping, unpaid bonuses, even go as far as offer players money to sabotage the team in Cameroon once we get to the Qfinals and prevent Rohr from achieving his next target…..LMAOOooo
Typical examples of fools who cut their noses to spite their faces….LMAOOoo…people who pray for Nigeria’s downfall just because they hate Rohr.
Time and Events are continuing to expose them all 1 after the other.
The funny thing is that the very first day Rohr step his feet on that stadium his response was ” good stadium but the pitch still not up to standard” and what was the response from some myopic fans they started slating him that he talk to much, he doesn’t have a winning mentallity etc not until we get to see the match live before we all realized what the man was talking about.. Why did our football administrator took the match to that place in the first instance the results even confirm that. Now CAF has shown that people in charge of our football administrations are not fit to be in charrge, the sports minister did not even help the matter.
Yeah… the pitch!… the pitch!!… the pitch!!! Blame the pitch… after a little more time blame the ball… when we went to play in Morocco against Liberia and in Cameroon against CAR… did we assert ourselves to convince that playing pitch condition has been our problem all along? Please let us find another lame excuse to push why Rohr`s team is yet to convince anyone after six years… abegi!
No, we didnt assert ourselves…..our opponents kept pummeling Maduka okoye with shots at goal from left, right and centre in all those matches…….Cant you see we lost all our matches away from home playing on good pitches…..LMAOOooo.
Rohr’s team is yet to convince in 6 years…LMAOOoo…I guess you wanted to say Rohr’s team has refused to be disappointing in 6 years, like the team of your guadiolas, INSPITE of all the banana peels the NFF has been throwing into its path in its desperation to sabotage the team……LMAOOooo. Pls remind us of the last SE class to win ALL their matches away from home in a qualifying series…..LMAOOoo…and this is inspite of 2 YEARS, 2 SOLID YEARS of owed bonuses and allowances.
I hope you have helped the NFF find paper and ink to type their purported sack letter and the relevant official clause(s) in the contract they singed with him to back it up…….LMAOOoo…..because its taking too long…..LMAOooo. 3 whole weeks to sack a man whom you and your fellow liars claimed has failed…..LMAOOooo
They think Rohr is like their desperate-for-food local coaches whom they always hire verbally and also fire verbally….LMAOOooooo.
@Seun Dejo, Oh! Who is that facing the sun on the pitch?
https://youtu.be/StpWi-U_lCM
That was Rohr’s making. The sun was to shine and hit the cameroonians on the side. We never knew how it happened but Africans would continue to run around searching how to defeat Rohr’s SE of Nigeria.
Hmmmmm! The general conclusion after the mid interlude is that Coach Rohr is seeing us through this era after all, he’s not expected to reign forever. Be as it may, I want to appeal to the Sport Minister, Suud Dare to please allow our players be. He mustn’t distabilize these golden set of Eagles that have qualified us for the play offs where countries like Italy, Portugal etc don’t even know what’s up, I mean concerning their places in the next WC. Regarding Awo and his peers, they must continue doing Nigeria proud in wherever they ply their trades and be sure, without injuries they are gonna rep us in Cameroon and the greater WC. Let’s love our country, Nigeria my fellow folks.
I could even decide to call him Odion Awoniyi becos the meaning of Taiwo is Odion in Edo. Okay let even say Coach Rohr will continue using Odion Awoniyi, then include Dennis of Watford, Desser of Feyenoord and all of them combining with our regular and experienced forwards like Odion Ighalo, Ahmed, Nacho; these strikers striking for the Super Eagles are certain to worry any defence in the World. Like I have always mentioned, our problem is the midfield that needs to be twerked to be combative. Aribo, Iwobi are good but without Ebuehi coming from the flank to make deliveries in support of the midfield in a more flexible and deceptive manner which mostly sees our opponent getting confused, our midfield would mostly be in lull. Then those few people will now come and start shouting Rohr this, Rohr that as if those articles or write-ups are about Rohr. Odion Awo has been very effective for Union Berlin which is a source of pride to those of us, Nigerians. Thank God his doing well and that our coach is using him.
That’s him, where have you been? Chat up @pubchtascod. May be they will give them amonike. Please leave those nonsense there, the games are few weeks away.
I’ve been at work buddy but had a tab hia.
Any coach who fields in players into an Afcon final or world cup game because of the stupid notion (give the youth a chance) or they are young, hungry etc and so that they can get experience there and bla bla is the greatest joker of all time.. and wants to joke with the heart of millions of sport loving fans. Afcon finals or world cup games is not a testing ground. You must have gotten the experience from friendly matches and qualifiers otherwise sitting on the bench is your case or if you are lucky you can be getting maybe two to five minutes of action and maybe as time progresses 20 minutes.
Wen are they camping?
ha ha ha,Francis Eluba, Odion Awoniyi, that’s a new one though.
What’s your line up since the game is few days away?
