Brighton are reportedly keen on Genk midfielder Sander Berge who has been told he can leave the Belgian club this summer for the right price. The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season for the Blauw-Wit in Belgian First Division A, making 40 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals.
However, his best work was done in defence, with the Norway international deployed as a defensive midfielder protecting the back four. Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws claims there has been an ‘official offer’ from Premier League new boys Sheffield United but the talented youngster is said to be ‘aiming higher’ than the Blades.
It remains to be seen if the Seagulls would fit his criteria but the Amex outfit have already done business with Genk this summer when purchasing winger Leonardo Trossard. That may help smooth any possible deal, with Genk said to value the player at around 25m euros.
