The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has expressed delight following the country’s 2-0 win against the Flying Eagles of Nigeria in their final Group D game at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
Carneiro Pedroso and Marquinos scored two quick goals late in the first half to seal the win for Brazil.
Reacting to the win the CBF wrote on Twitter:”Leaderrrrrrrrr! The Brazilian team beat Nigeria 2-0 and secured first place in Group D. The goals were scored by Jean and Marquinos. The focus is now on the round of 16, on Wednesday, at 14:30 (from Brasilia). Let’s go together!.”

The Flying Eagles had already qualified for the round of 16 after beating Italy 2-0 on Wednesday, May 24 at the Estadio Malvinas.
Nigeria finished as one of the third best placed teams and would meet either hosts Argentina or USA in the round of 16.
Brazil, on six points, topped Group D while Italy, also on six points, finished second after defeating Dominican Republic 3-0.
