St Etienne have completed the signing of Denis Bouanga on a four-year deal from Ligue 1 rivals Nimes. Les Verts have paid a reported 4.5million euros to secure the services of the Gabon international, who enjoyed an impressive debut season in the French top flight with Nimes last term, scoring eight goals in 35 appearances.

Bouanga becomes St Etienne’s fifth signing of the summer and his arrival at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard comes after the double capture of Sergi Palencia and Zaydou Youssouf from Bordeaux last week. The 24-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise after spending the majority of his career in Ligue 2 and admits he is delighted to be joining such a prestigious club.
“It is a great pride and honour to sign at ASSE,” Bouanga was quoted as saying by the Ligue 1 website. “I never thought I’d join such a mythical club – and one that is about to play in Europe. “For me, this is a new step in my career and I hope to take my game to a new level. I am very excited at the prospect of communing with the St Etienne fans with this green shirt on my shoulders.”
