Former Flying Eagles coach Godwin Uwa says the country’s current U-20 men’s team handler, Ladan Bosso, has nothing to offer.
Bosso was reinstated as the Flying Eagles Coach despite failing to qualify the team for the 2021 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Mauritania.
The Flying Eagles finished last in Group B (alongside Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire) in WAFU-UFOA Zone B qualifiers for the 2021 U-20 AFCON.

Bosso is currently with the team in Niger Republic, for the qualifiers to the 2023 U-20 AFCON and will face Ghana and Burkina Faso in Group B.
And ahead of the qualifiers Uwa, who led the Flying Eagles to a second place finish at the 2007 U-20 AFCON in Congo Brazzaville, posited that he has his reservations about the team’s head coach Bosso.
He, however, stated that he hopes the team does well in the qualifiers.
“I wish the team all the best in the competition but as far as I’m concern Ladan Bosso has nothing to offer,” he said on Brila FM’s Breakfast Show on Wednesday.
“I know him very well but like I said I hope the team does well.”
After qualifying the Flying Eagles to the Canada U-20 World Cup in 2007 after finishing second at the African qualifiers in Congo Brazzaville, Uwa was replaced by Bosso.
At the World Cup, Bosso led the Flying Eagles to a quarter-final finish.
The team had players like Brown Ideye, Elderson Echiejile, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Efe Ambrose.
Meanwhile, as part of preparations for this year’s regional qualifiers, the Flying Eagles took on Niger Republic in two test matches.
The first test game last Friday ended goalless while the second tie played on Monday saw the Flying Eagles triumph 1-0.
They will open their campaign at the tournament on Sunday, 8th May against Ghana before facing Burkina Faso three days later.

AS FAR AS LADAN BOSSO IS CONCERNED, 100% OF NIGERIA HAS NOTHING TO HOPE FOR.
NONE OF NIGERIA FANS WILL BE SURPRISED IF LADAN BOSSO’S TEAM FAIL TO QUALIFY FOR U-20 AFCON.
*** DOOM AND FAILURE IS ALREADY BE EXPECTED ***
Weekend is almost here.
The team that can’t beat Niger Republic convincingly.
I still can’t imagine what’s gping to happen when faced with tougher teams.
Best of luck.
Even if Ladan quality with this team, what has he to offer at the world cup proper. Are these efulefu football administrators not ashamed of themselves? that at this age, 2022, we are most likely going to be mere participants at the world cup with Ladan as coach, that is assuming he even qualifies the team.
Nigeria with all its achievement in youth football, should only be aiming to win the under age world cups with the likes of Brazil, Argentina, Germany, England, Ghana etc. Anything short is failure at its height.
Glory no kill me o (Efulefu). Mr Pinnick is the problem of Nigeria football it’s that simple, and only God will remove him like Abacha was removed if he doesn’t Resign. Hiring coaches with Zero football philosophy, kick and follow coaches in this new era.
This man looks hungry and was only hired because he will paid peanuts and not complain. Honestly it will be a tragedy to loose and this Ghanaian rabies dog will engulf us here again.
Keep Ghana out of ur COLA chewing mother, u asshole lol
An army of goats led by a lion will always defeat an army of LIONS led by an EWU/AKUYA.
Brodaman @ China Samuels, the thing nor tire you? I dey shame for Nigeria in almost every sphere. Imagine at this at age, we are still counting on luck to win trophy hence relegating meritocracy and proper planning to only God knows where. All because of selfish gain, we are constantly failing to see the huge huge benefits that can come with Nigeria national team s winning trophies in tournament.
What we are still enjoying today in our football is the benefits of those brilliant performances of our past national teams. These benefits reverberates right across boards; our sports, social and economic life, all benefits, both national and international. I CANT BE PROUD TO BE FROM SAME COUNTRY AS THESE CRIMINALS/XENOPHOBIC BONEHEADS PARADING THEMSELVES AS SPORTS OFFICIALS.
Quota system coach?
APC top to bottom!!!Nigerian football top to bottom!!!
Zoning is dead and buried!!!
But Quota system is alive and well.
May Nigeria not happen to you my people.
Na only Nigeria I see where a coach fail and they reappointed him again. Corruption is killing Nigeria football. Can’t you see other young and untested coaches all over the country? Ndi ara NFF.
