Super Eagles new invitee Victor Boniface has been named Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for August.
Bayer Leverkusen took to their X handle (formerly Twitter) to confirm Boniface as the winner on Friday.
Boniface beat Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig and German-born Nigerian goalkeeper Noah Atubolu of Freiburg to emerge winner.
The former St. Union-Gilloise striker bagged an assist and two goals in August.

In his debut league game for Leverkusen, he provided the assist for his team’s first goal in their 3-2 win against Leipzig.
The 22-year-old then scored two goals in a 3-0 win at Borussia Monchengladbach.
Meanwhile, Boniface is in the race for Bundesliga Player of the Month award for August.
His impressive performance for Leverkusen saw him get his first call-up to the Super Eagles for Sunday’s 2023 AFCON qualifier against São Tomé and Principe.
