Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface is targeting a record-extending fifth straight Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award.
Organiser of the German topflight, Bundesliga, announced Boniface as one of three nominees for the December award.
The other two players shortlisted for the award are Freiburg’s Merlin Röhl and Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig.
After another fine month of December, a record-extending fifth consecutive award can’t be ruled out for Boniface.

He has so far picked up the Rookie award for August, September, October and November this season.
The Nigeria striker contributed three goals and provided two assists in December to help Leverkusen maintain their unbeaten run in all competitions this season.
His fine form for his German club saw him listed for this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
Unfortunately, he got injured in the Super Eagles training camp in Abu Dhabi and has been replaced by Terem Moffi.
In a statement released by Leverkusen, the striker will be out till April.
Specific criteria must be met in order for a player to qualify as a Rookie.
He must be younger than 23 on Matchday 1 of the new season and cannot have started a Bundesliga match in any previous campaign.
As well as the fans (40%), Bundesliga clubs (30%) and a panel of Bundesliga experts (30%) are part of the voting process.
