Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has disclosed that Nigerians will still criticize the team even if Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is appointed as manager.
The Bayer Leverkusen star, who is currently with the senior national team in Uyo preparing for the game against Benin in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday, stated this in a chat with the Football Fans Tribe.

“The truth is even if we bring Guardiola, Nigerians will still have something to say, but I’m a type of person that doesn’t care about what people think because we’re not here with the team.
“Our job is to give it all on the pitch, and that’s it. It’s life. People will always criticize. So, no matter which coach you bring, people always have something to say,” the former Union Saint-Gilloise striker told Football Fans Tribe in an interview.
Despite the AFCON 2013 victory Nigeria had under the late Stephen Keshi, several football fans in the country do not believe a home-based coach should be in charge of such a talented team, as they trust a foreign eye would harness the goods of the team.

This guy has been showing traits of Indiscipline…He needs to pipe down. I remember when he said, and I quote “Some of us na were but because we are footballers you expect us to take insults” This was during the Osimhen/Finidi saga. Dude focus on your football, you’ve only had one good season. These gen z footballers are so sensitive. Forget fans and do your job.
How is he different from a fanatic?
How? Saying your mind is know indiscipline.
As a footballer, if you expect your fans not to criticize you sometimes then you are in the wrong business and honestly after the Afcon, their performances have been shambolic…
Nonsense. You play badly Nigerians will criticize you. You play well, we will applaud you. Duh
Nothing but the truth my brother.
Criticism is part of life. Footballers and politicians are not the only ones criticized.
