Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has provided a positive injury update on Victor Boniface, reports Completesports.com.
Boniface sustained a thigh injury on international duty last month.
The striker has not make an appearance for the Bundesliga champions since then.
The 23-year-old was earlier expected to miss action for the remainder of the year.
Alonso has however revealed that the Nigerian could feature against Augsburg next weekend.
“Certainly not against Augsburg. We’ll see about next week’s match against Freiburg. There’s still hope,” Alonso told a press conference on Friday.
Boniface has scored eight goals and provided one assist in 11 appearances across all competitions for Die Werkself this season.
