Victor Boniface featured for Bayer Leverkusen who began their Bundesliga title defence with a dramatic 3-2 win away to Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday night.
Boniface was in the starting line-up before he was replaced with eight minutes left to play. Nathan Tella was an unused substitute.
Despite surrendering a 2-0 lead, Leverkusen still managed to score in stoppage time, thanks to Florian Wirtz, to secure an opening day win.
Granit Xhaka gave Leverkusen the lead in the 12th minute while Wirtz made it 2-0 in the 38th minute.
With three minutes left to play in the first half Monchengladbach thought they had pulled a goal back but Tim Kleindienst’s was disallowed by VAR.
The home team refused to give up and eventually scored on 59 minutes through Nico Elvedi.
In the 85th minute Kleindienst made it 2-2 but Wirtz won it for Leverkusen in the 11th minute of stoppage time.

Few days back Leverkusen landed a first-ever German Super Cup in their history after beating Stuttgart on penalty shootout.
Boniface was in action for Leverkusen in the Super Cup clash and got hai side’s as as regulation time ended 1-1.
Last season Leverkusen clinched their first league title after going the entire league season unbeaten.
The Xabi Alonso-led team also added the German DFB-Pokal to end the campaign as a double winner for the first time in their history.
