Victor Boniface has backed his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Nathan Tella to become a regular figure for the Super Eagles in future.
Boniface and Tella joined Die Werkself from Union St. Gilloise and Southampton in the summer.
The duo are in Nigeria’s camp in Uyo for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Likuena of Lesotho.
It’s the first time Tella has been invited by Nigeria.

The versatile winger was raised in England by Nigerian parents.
The 24-year-opted to play for three-time African champions Nigeria instead of the Three Lions of England.
“He’s a good guy, a great player, and a fantastic player. I’ve been speaking to him since he joined Leverkusen and even before the national team call-up came and I told him he needs to relate with the fans. I told him he did well last season and if he’s quiet, nobody will see him, so he has to relate with them,” Boniface told OmaSports TV.
“I’m really happy for him because he got the invitation and is a different type of player than other wingers. He’s more direct and I think he will bring some good stuff to the national team.”
Tella will look to make his debut for the Super Eagles when they file against Lesotho tonight at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
