Chelsea hope they can get an agreement in place that will see Frank Lampard become their new boss before the end of this week. The current Derby County manager is on holiday in France after helping the Rams reach the Championship play-off final in his first season with the East Midlands outfit.

Chelsea are looking for a new boss following the departure of Maurizio Sarri to Serie A champions Juventus and Lampard appears to have been their first-choice replacement from the start of the process. The Blues would have to pay £4m in compensation to secure Lampard’s services and the man himself is thought to be keen on making a return to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The latest reports suggest the Blues are eager to make quick progress with the deal and want to have an agreement in place before the end of the week, with Lampard set to pen to paper on a potential three-year deal in west London.
