Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has taken responsibility for his team’s 3-1 Laliga defeat to Atletico Madrid on Sunday, September 24 at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium.
Atletico Madrid forward Alvaro Morata opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute and Antoine Griezman doubled the lead in the 18th minute.
Toni Kroos pulled one back for Real Madrid in the 35th minute of the game.
However Morata scored again in the 46th minute to make it 3-1 for the home team.
Speaking after the match, Ancelotti said that Los Blancos showed defensive frailties during the game.

“We changed the formation because we started with a diamond, with Modric playing in the centre of midfield and with Bellingham and Rodrygo as the forwards,” realmadrid.com quoted Ancelotti as saying.
“I’m not going to talk about individuals all I’ll say is that we didn’t defend well. The team wasn’t compact especially in the first half and Atletico capitalised on that. The three goals were carbon copies. They were able to split the centre backs who weren’t well positioned in the area
“Atletico are one the best teams defensively, not only in Spain. They’re very well organised and strong in duels. It’s not easy to find space. We had a few attempts from outside the box and we lacked a bit of precision. The problem wasn’t in attack but defence. It’s my fault.”
Real Madrid are placed second in the Laliga standings with 15 points after six games.
Next up for Real Madrid is a Laliga clash with Las Palmas on Wednesday, September 27 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Los Blancos have won Laliga a record 35 times.
