Lucas Bjerregaard has booked his place in the semi-finals of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play following surprise win over Tiger Woods. The 27-year-old Dane won two of his final three holes to overcome 14-time major winner Woods and book a showdown with Matt Kuchar in the last four on Sunday.

Woods, who had beaten Rory McIlroy in the last 16 earlier in the day, had looked on course to reach the semi-finals, as he was 1 up heading down the 16th, but Bjerregaard produced a stunning eagle to level the match before a par at the 18th was enough to send him through after Woods missed his par putt from five feet.
Bjerregaard, who is the 50th seed for this week’s tournament in Austin and has never won on the PGA Tour, was delighted to beat a player of Woods’ quality and he feels he has learned a lot from playing against the former world number one.
“We had a great match and it was a shame it had to end like this,” Bjerregaard said. “Obviously I’m happy to come out on the winning side and I really enjoyed playing with him [Tiger Woods] today.”
Experienced Kuchar booked his place in the semi-finals with 2 up victory over Sergio Garcia, despite a late rally for the Spaniard, while the other semi-final will be contested by Open champion Francesco Molinari, who thrashed Kevin Na 6&5, and last year’s runner up Kevin Kisner, who saw off Louis Oosthuizen 2&1.
