Former Scotland and Rangers defender, Maurice Ross has hailed Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey’s impressive performances for the Gers so far this season as he also admires the youngster’s big stature, strength and athleticism.
Bassey has been a key player for Rangers this season making 39 appearances, making five assists in all competitions as a centre-back and left-back.
The 22 year old has been featured in Rangers games much to the dismay of Croatia international, Borna Barisic, who has seen less game time this season since Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s appointment as the Gers’ Coach.

However Ross identifies Bassey’s advantages over Barisic and even compares the Nigerian to Rangers’ legend, Lorenzo Amoruso.
“I like a full-back to be athletic and hardy as well, Calvin Bassey is both of them Borna Barisic is a bit one-paced,” Glasgowtimes.co.uk quotes Ross.
“But even if you have two identical players, sometimes a manager just prefers one to the other, it is never cut and dried.
“But I like Calvin Bassey at left-back.
He is a talent and can probably go on to enjoy a big career.
“He is physical specimen, he is big, he is strong.”
Ross added: “If he gets beaten one-on-one, he gets back in because he is powerful. If he is ever in a foot race his opponent has to go around him because of his stature, he can’t just run past him, he has a long reach.

“If you think about it, the fastest way between two points is a straight line.
“If a player has to go around you because of your frame you have a better chance of winning that ball.
“It was the same with big Amo. In a race for the ball, his opponent would have to go around him.
“He would nudge into them because he was so strong and by that time he had won the ball back. It is similar with Bassey.”

I agree with you on this and am with you. African leaders have no shame at all.
By now Amaju Pinnick and his colleagues should have resigned by now.
We are still waiting for them all this week though.
Coach Eguavoen just stepped down last week and this week is too late for Amaju and his people to step down.
We want our ex footballers to be in charge of our sports. The current NFF have no clue about football.
For this reason, Amaju Pinnick and the entire NFF must gooooooo.
I have said this before and Nigerians are waking up now. We Can do this as a unit.
Not even in football alone but in general. Insecurity, no empowerment, infrastructure, no good roads and 24/7 power supply. Who does that.
We are tired of these and everything in Nigeria must functioning properly if not now but in 2023. Get your PVC ready Nigerians, we have to vote the right people in this time around.
Enough of old politicians running Nigeria or our sports.
APC and PDP have no way also. doing this, that means new era has come to Nigeria. No more recycling.
We want young people to run Nigeria for us. Amaju Pinnick and his colleagues must gooooo.
You really won my heart this time around @MONKEY POST. The protest is really. No hidden place for the wicked.
Go to Amaju Instagram page and see the why Nigerians are asking Amaju to resign. That is the forward my people.
Nigeria must be a good place for us the citizens. Let’s the protest continue. God bless Nigeria!!!

Pinnik or picnic must go along with president Buhari
I have never seen a man that doesn’t have shame.l guess the word shame is not part of his vocabulary. The algerian football president has resigned from his position. I don’t know what is going on in regards to pinnik. Please pinnik enough is enough . This is not your personal property. Please do the honourable thing and leave
You are rite. Pinnik must leaf our futbol alone. He is a bad administrato. Notin has woked since he tuk ofer. Nigeria futbol has suffard. We nid a new persin as NFF president.
Let’s assume pinick resigns. How are you sure a better replacement would be brought onboard? I have given up on Nigeria jare. Government doesn’t care about the country, all they know is their selfish interests.
And honestly, Pinick doesn’t give a damn about how we feel, he will never resign and there is nothing anybody can do about it.
Never say Never. So long there is a miracle God. Just believe.
There is power in unity.. if it goes viral ,,, pinnick will run away from his post
PINICK and OGA MINISTER with all due respect to NIGERANS, this is the MAN than needs the APOLOGY the most…
PINICK and OGA MINISTER, this is the MAN than needs the APOLOGY the most…
Pinnick is power hungry and maybe he wants the fate of Abacha to befall him before he knows he is not wanted anymore. Pinnick is the demon terrorizing Nigerian football for such a long time. After Pinnick I hope we will have someone who has played the game before and has the office qualifications as well in other to run our football well from A to Z. I support the motion from day #PinnickOut
