Midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has been dropped to the Schalke Under-23 side for “disciplinary reasons”, according to a club statement.
The 24-year-old is currently in his third season with Die Konigsblauen after initially joining on a season-long loan deal in the summer of 2016.
The Algeria international has made 33 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight times but it seems as though he has fallen out with the club’s management.

That would echo his problems at Tottenham, as the France-born schemer admitted that he argued with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino about a lack of playing time before leaving White Hart Lane.
It is unclear what he has done at the Gelsenkirchen outfit to be demoted, and the Bundesliga strugglers insist the length of the sanction is down to the player. “Nabil Bentaleb has been dropped to the U23s due to disciplinary reasons,” Schalke confirmed in a statement on their website. “The door is still open for him to return to the first-team squad and there is no set time frame on how long he will spend with the U23s.
