Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are on the verge of re-signing Jerome Boateng.
This is according to Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Boateng is currently a free agent after departing Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyon on June 9th 2023 following the expiration of his contract.
He joined Lyon from Bayern in 2021 after spending 10 years in his first spell with the Bavarians.
Now, the 35-year-old is set for a return to the club where he won numerous silverwares.
“Bayern are in advanced talks to bring Jerome Boateng back to the club as free agent — deal at final stages,” Romano said on X.
“Boateng has given his green light — he wants Bayern return, as first called by
@Plettigoal.
“Deal set to be completed in the next 24/48h.“
Boateng was part of the Bayern squad that won the treble both in 2013 and 2020.
He spent just one season at Manchester City (2010/2011) and won the FA Cup title.
He helped Germany land their fourth FIFA World Cup title in 2014, after a 1-0 win against Argentina.
