Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso expects Victor Boniface to be back in action by next month.
Boniface has been sidelined since sustaining an adductor injury during Nigeria’s preparation for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 23-year-old was pictured in training recently and Alonso has said he will return to the pitch soon.
The gaffer also praised the striker for showing great determination in his recovery process.

“His (Boniface) development is very good; the recovery is going in the right direction. That’s very positive,” Alonso told Bild.
“We expect Boniface soon, I don’t know, but it won’t be until May, maybe April, and that’s very good for us, having Boniface back. Boni works very well, with great professionalism, twice a day. We need players who have the desire to be back.”
The forward joined Die Werkself from Belgian Pro League outfit, Union St Gilloise last summer.
He has registered 16 goals and eight assists in 23 appearances across all competitions for the Bundesliga leaders.
