Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Bayelsa Queens have announced the death of their head coach Domo Okara.
Bayelsa Queens confirmed Okara’s death in a statement on their X handle on Saturday.
The cause of Okara’s death is not yet known.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our cherished Technical Adviser, Coach Domo Okara. His impact on Bayelsa Queens is unforgettable.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Thank you, Coach. You’ll be deeply missed.”
Okara led Bayelsa Queens to a bronze medal triumph at the CAF Women’s Champions League in 2022, passed away in the early hours of Saturday, June 8, 2024.
The deceased led Bayelsa Queens to the 2023 Federation Cup triumph, a third-place finish in the 2023-2024 Super Six recently in Yenagoa.
News of his passing broke on the same day the remains of a notable Bayelsa-born football administrator, Anthony Ogola, were laid to rest in Yenagoa.
