Rangers defender Calvin Bassey says he is ready to play any where for the club, reports Completesports.com.
Naturally a left-back, Bassey has featured as a centre-back since Dutchman Giovanni van Bronckhorst took charge of the team following injuries in the squad.
The Nigeria has acquainted himself to his new position and has earned huge plaudits for his performances for the Gers.

” I just want to play! Every game I want to be involved wherever I play,” Bassey told a press conference on Friday.
“Centre-back you need more communication and it sort of starts with you on the ball, if you can beat the first press, you’ve got the responsibility of setting the tone for the team in terms of beating the press and being brave.
” If me and Connor [Goldson] are brave it goes throughout the team and everyone then wants to play. Left-back is more physically demanding, you’re up and down to attack and defend. I just enjoy playing and want to play.”

The guy Cerezo should invite. He’s so good. Better than Collins, Sanusi. Amunike please he’s so good.
Sanusi? Let even conclude he is the best in the world, if that guy start to use him after a few games you will criticize him that he is poor. Though that’s football but you guys like exaggerating things he is good but which one is that he is better than this he is better than that
CEREZO n AMUNIKE, pls get Bassey for the coming world cup qualifiers against Ghana. He n Ola Aina are presently, the most versatile defenders available to Nigeria. One more missed chance to cap him, might be seriously regretted.
Not forgetting to say a big big congratulations to OUR SUPER FALCONS, who just defeated a very good, skillful n determined Ivorian team. A BIG BIG THUMBS UP to Ashleigh Plumtre, who without doubt was the best player on the pitch despite playing her first ever competitive match on an African soil. She indeed really really impressed me. Super Falcons have just added some real quality to the team.
That’s nice I didn’t expect that some Nigerians also love the entire sport not just the male’s game.
Nice performance form them
Happy that we won. But they very poor on the ball in the second half, had difficulty stringing passes together; they hardly kept possession, really didn’t disturb the Ivorians in any way come second half. We were so lucky to have won. Thanks to Plumptre and Nnadozie. Going into the second leg, we really need to play better than we did today. Otherwise, the CIV I saw today could turn the table in Abidjan.
Yes Papafem you observations are spot on but honestly speaking, it was always going to be difficult for the Falcons to play a well co-ordinated game. Quite a few of the players are new to one another and have not really had well enough long camping together. But to grind a good result against an Ivorian team that have been together for a very very long time now, deserve some commendation as well as gives an idea of the good quality the Falcons possess.
Egu cap this lady before it becomes another alaba scenario
Calvin bassey, The left footed central defender the Super Eagles really need to balance the defence.
He is still learning the ropes, he isnt ready for the big stage yet, but he should be in the team, learning from experienced legs and given few minutes here and there to familiarize himself with the team’s philosophy.
He could also be drafted to the u-23s after being capped of course.
In time he will be a very good addition to the defensive unit of the Super Eagles. The same goes for a certain Raphael nwadike in the central midfield.
The guy is ripe for super eagles. He play together with world class players, so nothing to learn from senior players unless we talk about Africa style of play which is kick and follow, aggressive tackles and push
It’s never easy to play away at Dortmund. They are a good attacking side, and with guys like Marco Reus, Jude Bellingham and Julian Brandt, they can be a handful on their day. Yet, the Rangers defense kept them quiet for much of the game, and Bassey contributed largely to that.
Is this Calvin Bassey that just put in a huge defensive performance for Rangers against Dortmund NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE SUPER EAGLES?
Hehehehe, it’s alright!
@Pompei, I am very happy that you asked us this question.
Who’s fault and why this Bassey hasn’t been playing for Nigeria yet?
You know the answer kę. Oga Rohr of course. We have been saying it that Oga Rohr have destroyed our football for the past five years but some of you Oga Rohr followers believe we hate the gaffer but now you understand.
Dessers didn’t get his chance under Oga Rohr. He just played few minutes under the gaffer which wasn’t enough.
Nwkueme, Alanpasun, Yakubu and so many players that Oga Rohr invited during his time didn’t get much time to play or some of them didn’t play at all and now Bassey. I stand to be corrected. We should thank God that Oga Rohr is no more with the team.
Lastly, it is never too late to have Bassey in the Super Eagles. I am eager to see Dessers, Bassey and Adeleye against Ghana. Anything less than that is meaningless. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
