Calvin Bassey has said his target is to continue doing well for Scottish champions Rangers in order to get called up to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Bassey has been a revelation for Rangers this season after enjoying more playing time.
The 21-year-old has played 17 games in all competitions and provided three assists.
His impressive performance earned him an invitation in October’s double header between the Eagles and Central African Republic but did not feature.

And he believes if he continues to perform he will surely get another call up.
“If I do well here, that helps me get called up for Nigeria so I am fully focused on working hard here at the club,” he said in Friday’s press conference ahead of this weekend’s league clash with Dundee United.
“When you get a run of games it has allowed my performances to get stronger. You gain confidence playing games and getting match sharpness back.
“Hopefully, I can keep it going and I’ll give it my best.“
Following injury to compatriot Leon Balogun, Bassey has been drafted into central defence.
And he believes playing another position will only improve him.
He said:I’ll play anywhere, anywhere the manager wants me to play. Playing different positions only benefits me and helps me to get better. I just have my head down and giving it my best.
“It’s a different angle playing at centre-back but I have experienced players around me with Greegsy, Tav, Connor and Borna so they have all helped me to improve and get better in that position.
“I just want to play and be on the pitch, I’ll be honest! Same as all the boys, I’m at my happiest on the pitch at Ibrox.
“The more experience I get in this position, I’ll keep gaining confidence and hopefully get better with every match.“

Quality addition to our SE. GOD BLESS CALVIN BASSEY, ALEXANDER THE KING IWOBI, ARIBO ARIBALL, AND ALL DESERVING SE PLAYERS. GERNOT ROHR OR NO GERNOT ROHR, NIGERIA IS COMING BACK WITH THE AFCON CUP. SAVE THIS N COME BACK TO ME AFTER THE TOURNAMENT. On a flip side PRESENT SE ONLY NEED BORROW A LEAF FROM THE PHYSICALITY OF PREVIOUS SE AS THIS 2006 TEAM TO PUT THE ICING ON THE CAKE

See as SE dey play those years. Compare with the nonsense we’re playing now amd struggling to score even when we have good strikers
Omoh see that enyeama save?
Haaa see my wilson oruma, obafemi, osaze huuummm. But football has also changed. Everything can’t be about physicality and mucsle but you have to be highly technical about your style these days.
Our problem is inability of rohr to change tactics before and even during the game.
As a coach these days you have to be ready to approach a game with as many formation as possible. You need to learn how to quickly switch when one fails and you have get your players to quickly adapt to new one.
We play a predictable formation and when our opponents has been able to nailed us on that changing it becomes a problem because our technical department has no clue.
Reason why many small nations can watch just a single match of se and come out with a plan to cage us.
As coach amr your team with players that can multi task. Let them know that they can be called to switch position as the case may be. Osaze in His days can play from right and left wing. He can also play as second strike behind main. He can play a main striker like he did in lille many times.
Thanks for the memories #GLORY! Some people should watch and learn how to be good Goal Keepers. The two G.Keepers were outstanding. See Enyeama’s 68th minute one-on-one save even at a close range. If na Okoye, He will be on the floor behind his touch line even before the opponent strikes the ball. Pls and pls Okoye is not just ripe for SE no 1 gloves period! I watched his display in the recent SE matches and noticed that Okoye already anticipates a goal whenever the opponent penetrates his defense and guess what? He starts to blame his defenders as the ball enters his own net, as if it is impossible to save a one-on-one situation, SAD INDEED!!!
Pls get us a very good, reliable and dependable Goal Keeper even if he is currently playing in Isreal or elsewhere… Rohr and Alloy and their bizness partner (Pi*n*c) are scammers and clueless!
Please EFCC AND ICPC should investigate the millions of dollars in the Rohr contract termination clause… Something sinister is really fishy! Nigeria Football fans are very worried!
NFF if you like get us a quality team of indigenous coaches, if you like ignore the sack… A day of reckoning will surely come (whatever you sow, same shall you reap)!
And Gernot Rohr incase you are reading this, I dare you to use the same line up you used in Lagos against Cape Verde at the AFCON by keeping our very bests on the bench;
Maintain your Ighalo attack o; infact, ignore Dennis and keep Chukwueze and Ejuke on the bench;
Don’t get brilliant attacking Midfielders o, just stick to Iwobi who cannot beat an opponent to unlock the midfield and defenses rather fidgets whenever the ball is on his legs; …
G.Rohr, I mean maintain the status quo and smell humiliating defeats repeatedly…… Ye ye dey smell!
Clueless + Ineptitude x timidity = Calamity…!
