According to AFP, the penalties stem from Monaco’s contract extension with star player Mike James, specifically involving undisclosed payments in image rights to FedCom Media.
In addition to the fine, Monaco have been stripped of one win, with another win suspended pending further review.
Monaco are considering an appeal, hoping for a reduction in the penalty, as reported by BeBasket.
As a result, the club will begin the new season at the bottom of the standings.
