D’Tigers of Nigeria power forward, Chimezie Metu, has reached an agreement with FC Barcelona to join the Spanish side as a free agent.
Evan Sidery of Forbes Sports posted the information on his ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle, noting that the contract details between Metu and the Catalan club were not specified.

“Chimezie Metu has signed an overseas contract with FC Barcelona. Metu spent this season with the Suns and Pistons, averaging 6.5 points per game,” Sidery’s post reads.
The veteran Nigerian-American NBA star was selected with the No. 49 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. Throughout his career, Metu has played for the Spurs, Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, and Detroit Pistons.
Metu made 260 appearances in the NBA, averaging 5.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game.
Last season, Metu played for the Suns and Pistons, averaging 6.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game in 51 appearances.
Metu was in Nigeria’s final roster for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
