Canada’s senior women’s basketball team defeated Australia by a three-point margin, 77-74, on Tuesday, July 23, in a Pre-Olympic game.
Kayla Alexander, as reported by CTV, scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds as Canada continued its preparations for the Paris Olympics, which will take place from July 26 to August 11.

Canadian Natalie Achonwa added 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting and contributed six rebounds, while Bridget Carleton chipped in with 10 points.
Jade Melbourne led Australia with a game-high 23 points.
The two teams will meet again on August 1 in preliminary-round game at the Paris Games.
Canada improved to 1-2 in pre-Olympic play and featured WNBA players Carleton, Aaliyah Edwards, and Kia Nurse in the lineup for the first time.
The Canadians will conclude their pre-Olympic schedule on Wednesday, July 24, against Spain in Segovia before starting their Paris 2024 Olympics campaign on July 29 against host France.
Both teams are in Group B, along with Nigeria’s D’Tigress and host nation France.
