Dan Barlaser has signed a new contract at Newcastle United before being loaned out to Rotherham for the 2019/20 season. Former England Under-18 international Barlaser joined Newcastle’s youth set-up in 2006 but, despite impressing when working his way through the ranks, he is yet to make his Premier League debut.
The 22-year-old midfielder spent last season on loan at Accrington Stanley and was a regular first-team fixture, scoring one goal from 39 League One appearances to help the club avoid relegation. Newcastle still hold the Englishman, who also had a brief loan at Crewe Alexandra in 2018, in high regard and they have handed him a long-term contract.
Barlaser has immediately been loaned out to Rotherham for the 2019/20 campaign, as the Millers look to bounce straight back to the Championship following their relegation to League One. The midfielder is Paul Warne’s sixth addition of the summer.
