Leon Balogun says the Super Eagles must exhibit “special character” to beat the Black Stars of Ghana to the 2022 FIFA World Cup ticket, reports Completesports.com.
The West African giants will clash in the first leg of the playoffs at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi on Friday.I’m
The reverse fixture is billed for the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja four days later.

“I try to leave the rivalry pretty much aside without saying that I don’t respect it,” Balogun said in chat with NFF TV.
“For me, the rivalry does not matter too much, it’s about where I want to go with the team, and that’s the World Cup.
“So it happens that we play against Ghana. Yes, there’s that rivalry; I know there’s huge importance outside of football and also inside football with the fans. But I’ll try to leave that to them and do my best and work on the pitch.
“This kind of derbies, they are big, they demand a special kind of character, and I think I can bring that. But I do not need to voice it in any type of way outside of the pitch because, ultimately, you should give the right answers on the pitch. For myself and my country.”

Balo has spoken. Ghana beware, we are coming for you.
MR BALOGUN just think of how to get a DRAW in KUMASI..
beating GHANA in BABA YARA STADIUM is like passing a DONKEY through the eye of a NEEDLE
The RECORDS are there.
TRUTH is BITTER bro
Records are there to be broken.
It’s a game,if you are better and exhibits special character you shall win it doesn’t matter where it’s played.
You are right bro
That’s history bro, the reality is that the eagles are better than the dark stars on form. Eagles will surely prevail in both encounter.
How do you aspire for mediocrity when excellence is available. No doubt the match will be a difficult one for both sides, but telling super eagles to go for draw is a looser’s mentality. Na wa for you O, bros
The guy who said to go for a draw is crazy and an enemy in our mix. No doubt, he should be sent to Sambisa Forest.
So because of a stadium we can’t win ?, So if Ghana use their under17 for Nigeria just because they are playing at the baba yara they can’t lose? Be lying to yourself, before we haven’t lost a world qualifier at home but that record was broken by CAR so record doesn’t mean anything
My Friend At MONKEY POST you are still so blind to see what is happening here. The key men are back. The likes of which we were so dearly missing at the recently concluded AFCON. Victor Osimhen, Leon Balogun, Peter Etebo, Calvin Bassey and Emmanuel Dennis couple with the already fire power of the likes of Iheanacho, Chukwueze and Simon. My dear friend your Ghana does not stand a chance mark it somewhere
It is just a pity the Rock Ndidi is not there however we will still beat them black and blue
And one of the key BOBO’ have spoken and so it shall be.
LMFAO…Okay! We sidan dey look…
LMFAO! Go give am na..
LMFAO! So even if AKPEHI comes here 2moro to deliver a well prepared speech. You go say make Dem give am captaincy??… SMH…
When Barça flog Real Madrid for Santiago Bernabeu just couple of hours ago, e no shock them?? 4-kondo for dat matter oh, unreplied goals lol….broda, this is just football, expected the unexpected
I tell you “expected the unexpected”
Well spoken like a true minister of war.
Should be the captain or worse deputy.
Can’t understand this idea of a non-playing captain or one that comes in as a substitute.
Exactly what I have been saying bro. Nigeria is backwards. This guy should be given the Armband man. That is the kind of Captain we need..
@DiMastta it is Nigerians they too dey pet Musa because of past Glory only in Naija
Mature statement
Matured response from balogun.. this is what age , experience and maturity can do for you..
They are professionals and it is a win all game mentality for them regardless of who the opponents are.. whether it is Ghana or Comoros it doesn’t matter, what matters is the world cup ticket..
No shaking, Nigeria will beat this Comoros trainees silly.
I just want the Super Eagles to prepare for their poor pitch and play real African football in order win the match. That Baba Yara stadium’s pitch is not television friendly at all, it looks bumpy.

See this Nigerian talking about infrastructure haha
Common electricity u can’t even enjoyed so SHUT UP for there haha
A lot of hype, hope and confidence being exhibited by Nigerians fans here prior to these two matches with Ghana. Maybe, understandable. But I would respectfully advise, we try and lower our expectations a little bit. Ours is a team whose majority of players are either not playing at all or are getting very little game-time at their clubs. Our midfield is worrying. And that appears to be Ghana’s main strength. Take out Joe Aribo and Innocent Bonke, and what do we really have left? Oghenekaro Etebo and Frank Onyeka while good footballers, have not played that much at an appreciable level for quite some time now. Shehu Abdullahi who have done an appreciable job when called upon in the past, played less than ten minutes for his club in a league game in Cyprus this past weekend. He was introduced as a substitute in the second half, but then replaced himself within eight minutes of going in. So, we don’t even know how fit he is. A lot of expectation has been put on Akin Amoo, whom I happen to be a fan of. But we are talking about a teenager who have never kicked a ball competitively for one minute at the international level. Just not fair! But what do I know? Our players could go there and drub them. Soccer is such an unpredictable sport. In the intervening period, though, let us try and reduce the noise-level.
We were so missing these guys at AfCON Osimhen Balogun and co.. I mean the kind of players we were missing in AFCON if we put it in context of Senegal it is like asking them to go into a big Tournament without thier Mane, Koulibaly, Gueye Idrissa, Sarr and co.. that is what Nigeria was missing in AFCON if you take. OSIMHEN, Balogun, Lookman, Dennis, Bassey and Etebo it was too much..
The Jollof War is upon us….
Who’s Jollof is tastier….Nigeria or Ghana?
Intense Jollof battles have been fought in the past.
