Leon Balogun will miss Rangers’ Old Firm derby clash with Celtic at Celtic Park today [Sunday] after being sent off in last weekend’s 3-1 win over Motherwell in a Scottish Premiership meeting at Fir Park.
Balogun started only his 15th league game of the season following an injury-plagued campaign, partnering Connor Goldson as the incumbent champions tried to end the Scottish regular season on a high.
In the 28th minute, Balogun was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Motherwell midfielder, Dean Cornelius. Before receiving his marching orders, Balogun was having a very good game overall.
Rangers chief coach, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst thereafter replaced Balogun with his Nigerian compatriot, Calvin Bassey while sacrificing on-loan Manchester United forward, Amad Diallo as the Gers won.
Joe Aribo could play a false-nine role once more against Celtic with Kemar Roofe again expected to miss out for the Gers with a knee problem, keeping Alfredo Morelos company on the injury sidelines.
