Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun will be looking to make his first appearance for Brighton& Hove Albion when the Seagulls face Cardiff City today (Tuesday) in a Premier League clash at the Amex Stadium, reports Completesports.com.
Balogun has struggled for regular playing time since linking up with Chris Hughton’s men on a free transfer last summer.
He has been sparingly used by the club with Hughton preferring the duo of Sean Duffy and Lewis Dunk in central defence.
The lanky centre-back has missed the Seagulls last five league games having last featured for the club in the 1-1 home draw against Arsenal on boxing day – December 26th, 2018 to be precise.
In between the period however, the Nigeria international had featured in Brighton’s last two Emirates FA Cup games Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion which they won 3-1 apiece.
The 30-year-old has featured in eight Premier League games this season and hit the back of the net once.
Brighton currently sit in the 17th position in the league table – just a step above the relegation zone- while Cardiff City are directly below in the 18th position with 28 games.
A victory for Brighton & Hove Albion in the game will further brighten their chances of escaping relegation with just six matches remaining before the end of the current campaign.
