I guess its a matter of who partners leon balogun in the heart of the Super Eagles defence against Ghana, if he stays injury-free. He is such a quality defender. We really missed him at the last world cup. He knows how to organize the defence.
I would have liked to him play along side Calvin bassey but calvin is still young and learning how to be a central defender. Plus he hasn’t played against an African side, so for now he stays on the bench.
Ekong has not played for Watford since returning from the Afcon. At least no one will blame him for all the goals they have been conceding. But he still needs to play games and stay fit.
I guess its down to semi ajayi and omerua to partner leon. But somehow I feel the coaching crew will stick with a leon-ekong combination. Because they understand each other and ekong is the vice captain of the team.
