Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi has penned an heartfelt message to Steve Cooper for helping “make his dream come true”.
Cooper was sacked by Forest on Tuesday following the team’s poor run of form.
The Tricky Trees have lost five of their last six Premier League games, including last Friday’s 2-0 defeat at home by Tottenham.
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo is in line to take over from Cooper.
Cooper brought Awoniyi to the City Ground last summer.
The Nigeria international played a crucial role as the Reds maintained their Premier League status despite a tough campaign.
Awoniyi scored 10 goals in 25 league appearances for Forest last season.
The 26-year-old expressed gratitude to the gaffer for helping him.actualise his dream of playing in the Premier League.
“Thank you for helping me make my big dream come true and bringing out the best in me. All the very best Gaffer,” he shared on Instagram.
The forward is currently sidelined with a groin injury.
