Super Eagles stars Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina were in action for Nottingham Forest, but could not help them avoid defeat to Manchester City who triumphed 2-0 at the Etihad in Saturday’s Premier League game.
Awoniyi only created one chance while Aina made two tackles and one interception.
Both players were taken off with 15 minutes left to play.
City made it six wins from six league games played thanks to goals from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland.
Foden opened the scoring in the 7th minute while Haaland doubled the lead in the 14th minute.
City were reduced to 10 men after Rodri was shown a straight red for an off for an off-the-ball incident with Gibbs-White.

The treble winners remain top on 18 points while Forest occupy 10th position on seven points.
At Selhurst Park Alex Iwobi featured but Calvin Bassey was benched as Fulham held Crystal Palace to a goalless draw.
Iwobi was introduced into the tie in the 15th minute for his second appearance since joining Fulham.
Following the draw, Fulham are in ninth spot on eight points.
