Christian Lealiifano has taken the “difficult decision” to leave Brumbies at the end of the Super Rugby 2019 campaign. The 31-year-old has spent the last 12 years with the Canberra-based outfit but is keen to embark on a challenge elsewhere.

Lealiifano, who boasts 19 Test caps for Australia, will not be eligible to feature for the national side after completing a move to Japan but he will be available for their 2019 World Cup campaign. “This was a difficult decision for me and I would like to thank the Brumbies for their support throughout my time at the club,” Lealiifano told the club’s official website.
“The support that the Canberra public gave me and my family through a difficult time in my life will never be forgotten. “I believe this club has a bright future under Dan (McKellar) and his coaching staff and look forward to following that progress.” Brumbies have already secured their place at the top of the Australian Conference and will host South Africa’s Sharks in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
