Atalanta are unlikely to make any further additions to their squad this summer following the return of Mario Pasalic on loan. Croatia international Pasalic impressed during a temporary move to the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia last season and has now returned to the club for another loan spell from Chelsea, while Atalanta also have an option to buy the midfielder on a permanent basis.

Atalanta are preparing for their first season in the Champions League following their third-place finish in Serie A last season and they have also added Colombia forward Luis Muriel to their squad during the off-season, although CEO Luca Percassi has now revealed that the club don’t expect to sign any further players over the coming weeks. “For me, [the transfer window] has finished,” Percassi told ANSA. “The squad doesn’t require touch-ups.
Let’s not forget we finished third. The summer transfer market consists of accelerations and braking.” Percassi has also reassured La Dea supporters that star players Duvan Zapata, Josip Ilicic and Papu Gomez will be remaining with the club. “Zapata, Ilicic and Gomez are staying,” the CEO added. “We’ll still be at the window trying to seize any opportunities that arise, but with Muriel and the confirmation of Pasalic’s [new] loan, we’ve pulled off two big coups.”
