Arsenal are reportedly considering a January move for AC Milan Nigerian international Samuel Chukwueze as Mikel Arteta eyes cover for injured Bukayo Saka.
Saka will be unavailable for a significant length of time after picking up a hamstring injury, and if he requires surgery, as has been suggested, he will be sidelined for months, not weeks.
Following Saka’s absence, reports suggest that Arteta could dip into the transfer market to get a cover.
According to Italian outlet MilanLive (via TEAMtalk), Arsenal could offer Jakub Kiwior in a swap deal for Chukwueze, with Milan thought to be interested in the Gunners’ defender.
Kiwior has struggled for consistent minutes this season and has been heavily linked with a return to Italy, where he made his name playing for Spezia.
Saka, meanwhile, has featured in all but three of Arsenal’s games this season and has scored nine goals and 13 assists so far.
Arteta will now have to rely upon the likes of Leandro Trossard and Ethan Nwaneri to deputise on the right-wing.
Chukwueze signed for Milan from Villarreal in 2023 but is yet to hit the heights that he did in Spain.
The Europa League winner has scored just six goals and made four assists in 54 Milan appearances so far.
He has been competing with former Chelsea man Christian Pulisic for a spot in the starting XI and has not always got the nod from Paulo Fonseca.
