Reported Arsenal target Yannick Carrasco has stated his desire to return to European football this summer.
The Belgium international left Atletico Madrid to join Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang in February 2018, but he is now seeking a return to Europe after struggling to settle in China, while he has also lost his starting place for his country.
Arsenal were reportedly close to concluding a deal for Carrasco during the January transfer window, but they could not agree a loan fee with Dalian Yifang.
Carrasco has now revealed his frustration that he could not secure a move during the winter, but he is keen to seal a return to Europe at the earliest possible opportunity. “I would love to return to Europe.

A lot of clubs were interested in me,” the 25-year-old told HLN. “We tried to find a solution in January that would enable me to leave Dalian Yifang.” Arsenal are still believed to be interested in signing Carrasco, although he would have to take a significant cut in his wages, as the Gunners will not be willing to pay the reported £8.8million he earns per year in China.
It is unclear whether Arsenal will pursue a loan or permanent move for Carrasco, as Unai Emery is not expected to have that much money to spend on transfers, with some reports suggesting his budget will be £40million.
