Jurrien Timber will miss Arsenal’s trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season at Brentford on Wednesday night.
Timber’s unavailability was confirmed in a statement by Arsenal on Friday.
The Dutchman was booked in the 17th minute in the Gunners’ 3-1 against Brentford win which saw him reach five for the campaign in the Premier League.
As such he will now be forced to miss out against the Seagulls at the Amex Stadium through a one-match suspension.
Players had until the end of the 19th game of the season to avoid picking up five yellow cards and the resulting ban, meaning that Timber and Gabriel Jesus were the only Gunners walking a tightrope against the Bees with four to their name.
Having past the halfway point in the campaign, the threshold for a ban is now 10 yellow cards, which will trigger a two-match ban.
Aside from Timber and Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Jorginho, Kai Havertz and Declan Rice have the next most bookings in the league this season with three to their name.
